I have gone through a lot in my shooting journey in the past 12 months. I have gone from getting dq’d in my first match, falling in my second; to getting into the single digits overall at 400+ lbs. I have taken a class with the wild one Ben Stoeger, fixed a lot of my bad shooting habits. Right now with my improved grip the Gock gen 5 has emerged as my goldilocks gun, it fits perfect and there are tons of reasons to get one.
Which leaves me in a predicament, my philosophy is if I don’t shoot the gun and it isn’t for some specific purpose i get rid of it. Despite it’s novelty to me and the interesting mechanics of it I don’t like having assets that don’t appreciate lying around.
I am going to give it a run in my next match to find out if it still performs for me the way the glocks have, in my previous outing with it at the Ben Stoeger class I had issues with the mags; and if you can’t feed a gun reliably it doesn’t need to be in my inventory.
Let me know what you think, do you keep guns that you don’t shoot and what are your minimum requirements for performance or what you do before you can “trust” a gun?
